Ideas we welcome

Pitch a focused subject with a reader in mind: a useful comparison, an explanation of how a pastime works, a piece of cultural or historical context, or a carefully bounded guide to planning a particular kind of leisure time. We value subjects readers can use without specialist credentials or first-hand claims that cannot be supported.

What makes a good pitch

Explain the central idea, why it matters to readers and what your proposed piece would cover. A strong pitch has a clear angle, avoids repeating familiar generalities and makes its limits plain. Please mention any relevant experience or sources you expect to draw on, without overstating either.

Sending a proposal

Use the Contact page and choose the editorial option. Include a proposed title or subject, a short outline and your name. A proposal is not a guarantee of publication; please do not send a complete manuscript unless it has been requested.
